Overview
The Goddard licence, P2438, was awarded to IOG at 100% working interest in October 2018 in the 30th Licensing Round. A 50% non-operated stake was farmed-out to CalEnergy Resources (UK) Limited (CER) as part of the wider farm-out transaction which completed in Q4 2019. A commitment to drill an appraisal well on the Goddard structure has been made within 3 years of licence award, i.e. by October 2021.
The discovery lies 70 km north of the Norfolk coast in 25m water depth, 5km to the south of the Perenco operated West Sole field and 11km north of the Pickerill Field.
Seismic reprocessing work over 2020-21 also identified the Southsea prospect which is directly to the south-east of Goddard.

History
The Goddard discovery, previously known as Glein was proven by well 48/11a-12 drilled by Arco in 1994.
Development
The expected development plan for Goddard is to develop the field via potentially up to 6 wells, subject to the outcome of the appraisal well being planned for 2022. These wells are expected to be horizontal hydraulically stimulated wells to achieve maximum flow rates.
The development wells would be drilled by a jack-up rig through a suitable Normally Unmanned Installation. The possibility of subsea completions will also be evaluated as part of field development plan optimisation. A 45km connection to IOG’s Blythe Hub could then export gas via the Saturn Banks Pipeline to Bacton.
